We got exactly what we deserved. No shots on target. Left it to the last minute to get two half opportunities. Clarke needs to walk for the non tactical masterclass. We were slow and turgid. How we got a draw against Switzerland still beggars belief to be honest. Yup Appalling tactics, team selection. No drive, no energy. No way Henry or Adams should start, Ralston pointless also, Robertson looked totally exhausted but didn't effect the game much, and why is Armstrong even in the squad. Top to bottom, management and squad needs rebuilt. Have no issue going out of a tournie giving battling performances but 3 pathetic, lacklustre clueless performances, and that has to be on Clarke Bang on RZ Nothing short of embarrassing Admit to not having watched all games in the tournie but the three worst ones involved Scotland Now its about hoping ABE dont win the tournie

It's a sick joke that we can't even deliver a corner kick properly. Just think of the damage someone like Davie Cooper would do nowadays with the lighter balls.

Slaughtered by the Germans. Fortunate to get a point against the Swiss. The Hungarians scoring with the last kick of the ball was painful but I can't say they did not deserve it. We are strong across the midfield and at left back but poor to average in every other position. Clarke should get a lot of credit for getting so much out of such an imbalanced team but we are not going to consistently compete with elite nations any time soon.

The real question though is WHY NOT? Croatia, a country with a very similar populace as us and yet consistently do well at tournaments. SFA must address the fact we do not produce anywhere near enough quality players. And I would define quality as an individual who has a football brain with tactical awareness, calmness under pressure, be able to ( see) the right pass. To know when to stick or twist. To recognize when and where there are weaknesses of opposing players. There are thousands of top quality players in the football game unfortunately very few are Scots. The SFA has to investigate WHY we do not produce enough top class players and then do something about it…….Our coaches are taught by other coaches, are they not?. A root and branch review of the system we currently use should be carried out. Part of this would entail sending selected people to other countries to find out why they produce what we simply cannot…….Our coaching system does work……but not nearly as well as many other countries and unless we follow/copy the best, we will continue to deliver 2nd class players. OR……WE do nothing and consider success as simply qualifying.😡🙄

Exactly this Cuparman.
However, will the SFA/SPFL (because they are both cut from the same piece of withering, empty cloth) ever realise the need for change? Or will the Gravy train of the Ugly Sisters be their no 1 Priority? You know, it wouldn't be so bad if they used an appropriate amount of that cash from the Gravy train and put it towards MEANINGFUL grass roots projects, but do we think they will? Let me think .............

I my opinion, it’s definitely a lack of desire for change at grass root level. I left our fair shores some 20+ years ago and have lived in several counties during that time and can tell you the difference in attitude to “youth sports” is miles apart. On the weekend you can’t go 5 miles from the house over here without passing a dozen different football fields with literally hundreds of kids playing in various organized local leagues and competitions. A couple of hours practice twice a week is very common and kids will start kicking a ball around in some form of organized system from 4 years old. I’ve seen primary school stadiums here that would put a lot of SPFL grounds to shame but without the desire from the Blazers to invest and back volunteer run programs for our youths with organized systems in place we won’t see much improvement.

I agree with most everyone.
Unless the suits get off their lazy asses and direct our coaching program through funding/ hiring of established highly regarded coaches, we will do nothing but stagnate.
Somebody with influence over the SFA needs to clean house. Imo, the suits are not doing what they should be doing which it to aspire to building a first class coaching process where applicants need to do more than what is required atm. Tick. Tick. Tick……result sweet nothing of value/ ability/ insight/ drive/ driven individuals who are in it for more than just picking up a wage at the end of their career. Why is the higherarchy happy/ allowed to simply grow old and take money out of the game whilst leaving our national sport in the football wilderness…. Someone or some- body of people need to get stuck in and make a name for themselves in the way that our investors have in the way RRFC has been transformed .
This group of people also need to stand up to the old firm. Those self interested pillocks who are responsible for allowing themselves to be bullied/ bought or whatever. Our game has been stagnant for decades. The “ SUITS” are responsible for the decline.
I say get rid and bring in foreign blood with a successful record of building something that we as a nation can be proud of.
The current board are as successful in their duties off the pitch as our national team is on the pitch. If they cannot be motivated to lift our game/ standards/ technical coaching and work off the pitch, then move aside. 10.000 all seater stadiums that are never full and yes to artificial surfaces then, eh, NO to artificial pitches. ( which happen to be the fund raising that small clubs need to simply survive…….not that the suits care 1 iota.😡.
TV companies could start by doing interviews with the suits, let them justify themselves and explain why in their opinion, our game is so poor in relation to most other countries. The press could/ should be asking questions of the SFA. The SFA “ should” be answerable to the clubs in a meaningful way.
Rant over.BP off the scale🙄…..

If Rovers had exited a cup or lost a playoff game in the 100th minute, I'd have been gutted and in a bad mood for several days afterwards. My indifference to Hungary's goal last night confirmed what I've probably known for the last 25 plus years - that I really don't give two hoots about international football.

And that is exactly how our SFA feel as well. The difference is, they blinking well should/ must care or retire and make room for somebody that DOES CARE and are willing to do something about it.😡

Clarke should get a lot of credit for getting so much out of such an imbalanced team but we are not going to consistently compete with elite nations any time soon. But why was it imbalanced, he picked the squad! Surely if you are going to pick, say 11 guys you want to start, you pick a formation and tactic that suits them? Clarke got it wrong in the warm up games, he should have started his strongest 11 in both matches to give them as much playing time as possible to get his formation and tactics right (yes I know, fear oh injuries, that's life) then gradually introduce the fringe players. His comment about giving them minutes was utter guff, they had just finished a full season, they didn't need minutes, they needed a better understanding of what was required of them. cuparman made the point that we see success as simply qualifying, he has a point. No one that runs Scottish football gives a damn about anything bar the OF and the longer it goes on, the worse it will get. Hundreds of thousands of fans spent fortunes and made massive sacrifices to travel to Germany for what, sure they had a few beers and a party, but having to listen to Clarke waffle on, blame the ref, then refuse to say what he means because he 'likes his money'. That should signal his last pay cheque from the SFA. I don't recall him thanking the fans once. He is miserable, uninspiring and living off one good season at Killie, he has to realise that, wirth the dearth of talent this country produces, he can't play like Chelsea or West Ham. Football is simple, pick your best 11, play them in a formation that suits them and make the opposition beat you, IM should note that also.

I would also like to know , in just how much depth IM goes into when analyzing a game and wether he uses videos to imprint the “ teachings” that can be derived from them.🤔
