What,a foreign coach like Bertie Vogts?that went well Dont get the clamour for foreign coaches Footballs an easy game but theres too much blackboard football and players are over loaded with a lot of useless information much of which is alien. I played the game at a decent level and didn,t need someone moving magnetic counters on a board or flicking through sheets of paper the equivalent of War and Peace to tell me what to do Get back to playing the way did in the Billy Bremner,Joe Jordan,Peter Lorimer era Get into them attitude I say

Have to agree Cuparman.
You can see the same similar tactics through a lot of clubs we play against, and Rovers included.
A couple of months ago, we had Dick Campbell give his talk at Reminiscing Rovers, and he was very interesting, discussing coaching and the SFA coaching. Dick has the most coaching badges in Scottish football. He said the Scottish coaching is mush admired throughout Europe. I find that amazing,
Our national side is average, we haven't any real European class footballers, our clubs are poor in European competitions, etc..
What on earth is wrong with our coaching system?
I disagree with Vinnie, we need good European coaches into our coaching.

The problem is that Scotland won't attract an elite level foreign coach. A top level foreign coach would still be stuck with Antony Ralston and Ryan Porteous. The problems are much more deep rooted. Germany brought on subs who play for Barcelona, whereas Scotland brought on subs who play for Hearts and Norwich City.

Adding to that, it was a guy playing for Watford that got sent off for his foul on the German captain who plays for Barcelona. Not quite David v Goliath but you get the big picture.🥺

My view is we need to play the long game. This means getting in respected foreign coaches where standards are higher and bring them in to teach/ educate our youngsters at a young age.
The SFA should invest money in bringing in or at least going to view/ study the systems employed by other countries where they are obviously more technically gifted and doing the right things.
Sticking yer head in the sand does not make for good progress.☹️

Devil's advocate here. Little known fact but Jose Mourinho early in his coaching career at one time attended Largs under the tutelage of the late Craig Brown and Andy Roxburgh was also deemed sufficiently good enough to be given the Technical Director job at UEFA HQ in Switzerland where budding coaches throughout Europe attended to get qualifications. Something has gone wrong in the intervening period.🥺
